It seems ages ago now but I went home for a couple of weeks at the beginning of the month. It was my 39th birthday and I’d actually booked a holiday but decided to cancel and be around my family and friends instead. I didn’t know how I’d feel with the no drinking whilst away at a holiday destination so this was the more sensible option. I had a fabulous couple of weeks. I spent my birthday weekend in Manchester being treated to all sorts of loveliness 😊
During the week I spent lots of time catching up with family and friends. I even walked to the highest beach in England at the top of this hill where the views are amazing …
I’ve been back to the valley quite a lot recently and it’s made me realise I’m ready to get my social life back but without the booze and I feel I’m strong enough to do that now. I always said I’d never live in the valley again but times have changed and I’m a different person now. There’s also a certain someone back there that I’d like to see more often and living on the Isle of Man doesn’t make dating easy.
So since I’ve been back I’ve done a lot of thinking about my future plans. I’m so excited about what is ahead and things are only going to get better. It really is amazing how my life has changed by stopping drinking alcohol. I’m like a completely different person. Quitting the booze is the single most important and best decision I’ve ever made in my life, ever!
My running has had to calm down a lot unfortunately due to some problems with my hip so I’m waiting for physio. Hopefully I’ll be back on it soon and training for my half marathon again. I’ve been spending a lot of time at the gym instead (I never thought I’d ever write that sentence).
I hope you’re having a lovely weekend so far. I’m slightly addicted to Game of Thrones at the moment (I’m always late to the party), and a few other box sets on Netflix so that’s me for the rest of the evening. Football tomorrow … come on England! 🏴
Thanks for reading.
